Soda Stream Review & Giveaway

I was recently given the opportunity to do a product review for a fantastic company called Soda Stream.  They sent me the red Genesis Soda Maker to review.  As you can see, I love red kitchen appliances and this machine fit nicely between my sink and my red Kitchenaid Stand Mixer.  It is small and doesn't take up a  lot of counter space and requires no batteries or electricity to use so I can easily move it around if I wanted to.

Soda Stream also sent me 9 full size bottles of soda mix flavors to try.  We received Lemon Iced Tea, Gingerale, OrangeMango, Energy (like Red Bull), Diet Coke, Diet Pink Grapefruit, Diet Root Beer, Regular Cola and Diet Lemon Lime bottles as well as a 3 pack of water essence flavoring to make flavored water.

Soda Stream also sent us a package of 12 trial-size samples of some of the other flavors they offer.  These were really neat because they were one time use packets.

We also received one 14.5 ounce carbonator to use in our machine as well along with 2 one liter gray carbonating bottles to mix the drinks in.  When it all arrived, I was curious how easy it would be to attach the carbonator and actually use the machine.  The instructions were very well written and easy to understand and it only took David about 5 minutes to have it all unpacked and the carbonator attached and the machine ready to use.  There were so many flavors to choose from that we had a hard time deciding what to try first.

Making the drinks was very easy.  You fill the gray bottle up to the designated line with regular water (from your faucet or from a water dispenser).  Then screw the gray bottle onto your Soda Stream Machine and push the button down three times or until you hear a loud buzz or you can adjust the amount of carbonation you put into your bottle if you would like less with just the touch of the button.  The buzz lets you know that the perfect amount of carbonation has been added to your bottle and takes the "guess work" out of that step.  Then you pour a capful of your chosen flavoring into the gray bottle that is now filled with carbonated water.  Then you screw the cap onto the gray bottle and gently rock it back and forth until it is well mixed.  You don't shake it...just gently rock it.  Then, as Emeril says....BAM, you have your very own carbonated drink!  It was SO easy to make.

They taste great!  In fact, the Cola taste pretty much like Coca-Cola, the Diet Lemon Lime was one of the kids favorites and they honestly thought it was regular Sprite!  David loved the Energy because he said it was actually better than a Red Bull.  We also enjoyed the Orange Mango a lot too and the kids called it their "Orange Drink".  Best of all, no matter what your taste preference, Soda Stream carries over 30 different flavorings to suit everyone's individual taste.  I didn't mind letting the kids drink Soda Stream's diet flavorings either because they are sweetened with Splenda rather than aspartame and the regular flavorings do not contain high fructose syrups.

Get ready to be amazed:  One bottle of flavoring would make an equivalent of 33 cans of coke!  And one 14.5 ounce carbonator makes 60 Liters which is the same as 170 aluminum cans!  Soda Stream is an "Active Green" product which means by using this machine, you are helping to reduce your C02 footprint in the environment.  Soda Stream also requires no batteries, no electricity and no plumbing.  You no longer have to lug home those heavy cartons of cokes from the grocery store or try to find somewhere to store them.  It reduces trash because you don't have the bottles or cans to put into the garbage cans or recycle bins.  And you can save space in your refrigerator because one bottle of flavoring takes the space of 33 cans.

You can purchase your own Soda Stream Machine (there are several varities) HERE

Or better yet....You can win your own Soda Steam Fountain Jet Machine at my friend David's Blog.  GO HERE to sign-up to win your own machine complete with the machine, carbonator, 7 flavor syrups, 3 water flavor syrups and 2 drink bottles to make your drinks in!  Contest ends Saturday, May 29th at midnight.

This is a compensated review.  I was given a Soda Stream Machine and accessories from Soda Stream to use and review.  The opinions expressed here are my own and I was not required to give a positive review of this product.
