I went to college in Searcy, Arkansas at Harding Univeristy on a full-tuition piano/voice scholarship.  I had two awesome dorm buddies and we loved to cook meals in our dorm room to save money from eating out and to avoid the campus cafeteria food.  One morning we were cooking Petit Jean hickory smoked bacon and our dorm Mom came all the way up to our room to find out what the delicious smell coming down the stairs was. Here is me and my 2 "besties" from college on the campus:

Being in Arkansas, we were able to purchase Petit Jean Meats to enjoy.  They are best known for producing the finest traditional Arkansas flavor but they can trace their lineage back to Germany!  Since 1928, Petit Jean Meats have been giving customers meats created the "old fashioned way" so you can enjoy that old fashioned flavor at home.  Their bacon and hams are slowly smoked for 18 hours with real burning hickory (not the liquid smoke used by most companies) and they never contain added water! They are also the only privately owned processor of red meats left in Arkansas!
