Princess Stories Book Review

Mirror, mirror on the wall,

And so begins the beautiful book, Princess Stories:  Real Bible Stories of God's Princesses.  What girl doesn't dream of being a Princess or reading about princesses and fairy tales?  Now your daughter can read about God's princesses thanks to this new book from Tyndale Kids.

Little princesses will love reading about the women of the Bible. They will learn about the loyalty of Ruth, the wisdom of Deborah, the courage of Esther and many more.  Most important, girls will discover that they too, are princesses - daughters of the King! As they look into these stories, they'll learn to love God and to follow His Word.  This book also helps them discover the value and purpose of living as God's little princesses.

Our son had recently got the book Heroes and Villians of the Bible and our 8 year old was thrilled to have a book similar to her brothers that was written specifically for girls. Each night, part of her bedtime routine is to read a story out of this book and for us to discuss it with her.  Each story introduces them to a particular woman found in the Bible and gives the corresponding Biblical passage where they can read the story in the Bible. Then that character's story is presented in a way that is written to the child helping make the story real and personal to them.  There is a Bible verse at the end of the story.  Then there are "Princess Ponderings" which are questions that allow you to discuss the story with your child and help them make a modern day application from the woman they have just read about.

I love how our daughter keeps this book with her Bible right beside her pillow in her bed.  She loves reading it every night and as parents, we love how she is learning about Godly women of the Bible and understanding what she can learn from them and their stories.  While we haven't finished the book yet, I did notice that the very last story in the book features Psalm 139:1-24 and shows how the child is a special princess!  You can purchase Princess Stories from Tyndale Kids and it would make a great addition for that special girl in your life.
