The Beautiful Wife Blog Tour

I love Bible studies...especially women's Bible studies.  I have done lots of Beth Moore, Precept Studies and even recently some marriage/parenting studies.  A few months ago, I was sent an advanced reader's copy of a book that is actually a new women's study called "The Beautiful Wife" by Sandy Rayla.  The name alone caught my attention because if you are married, we all want to be known as a "beautiful wife" to our husbands.
The Beautiful Wife uses these inspiring stories along with biblical principles to guide and encourage any wife looking for God's best in her marriage. The Beautiful Wife answers serious questions women have about their roles as wives. Discussing everything from romance and money to beauty, communication, and sex, Sandy challenges women to open up and share their journeys so that together they can see God's plan for their marriages. "It is my passion to help women discover God's heart for their marriage, just as the other women helped me," writes Sandy. "When women share with each other the details of their journeys with God as wives, it's a beautiful thing indeed."

I absolutely loved this book as it covered all the basics necessary to build and grow my marriage.  This book is also a perfect small group study and could easily be used in a group setting.  This isn't one of those "deep and complex" reads either.  Sandy writes in a very easy to understand language and the points you draw from the text are so basic and simple.  For example, chapter 7 covers "Opening Lines of Communication" and while that is often a taboo or hard to address issue in marriage, her writing makes it so easy to understand how to openly create lines of communication between you and your spouse.  Filled with Biblical references, Biblical support for her points/opinions and full of practical advice this book is a wonderful read for any lady who is married, engaged or even seriously dating someone.

The Beautiful Wife also has 2 companion resources ~ a Mentor's Guide and a Prayer Journal.  If you choose to use this book as a group study, the Mentor's Guide will give you everything you need to support you as you mentor to other wives.  It includes small group instructions, week-by-week leader materials, hostess tips and more.  My favorite companion resource was the Prayer Journal.  Each chapter begins with a prayer and then there are "prompts/journaling tips" to help you fill in your prayer journal.  By far, my favorite day was pages 12-15 when your task was to list Scripture verses that describe God's attributes starting with letter "A" and moving through the entire alphabet!

A:  Amazing (I Chronicles 16:24) Lord, You perform glorious deeds among the nations.  I will tell everyone about the amazing things You do!

There are also instructions in the Prayer Journal for how to pray for yourself, your husband and your marriage/relationship. There is space to journal your thoughts/feelings about what you have read in the book and even guidance on setting goals and envisioning changes in your marriage.  I highly recommend these 2 companion resources if you are going to read The Beautiful Wife.
