Children's Favorite Bible Stories is a hardcover book that contains almost 200 stories from the Bible! Each story begins with a title, scripture reference and then a brief explanation of what you are about to read. It kind of sets the stage for the story and gets the kids to thinking about what they would do if they were actually there watching the story take place in person. The stories are shared straight out of scripture and this book uses the International Children's Bible making the stories easy to understand for children of all ages. There are also prayer prompts, definitions of words that may be unfamiliar to children and even fun family activities. There are quotes of the day from great men of faith such as Spurgeon, D.L. Moody, John Wesley, Billy Graham and more. Our kids especially loved the "Did You Know" questions that are scattered throughout the book as well. For example, "Did You Know that Ecclesiastes comes from the Greek word meaning "teacher"?" There is also a beautiful satin ribbon to mark your place each day too.
Why did this book take me back to my childhood days? I grew up in a home where my parents read us a Bible story each night before bedtime. The illustrations by Natalie Carabetta in Children's Favorite Bible Stories were so reminiscent of the illustrations I grew up seeing as a child. I can remember the picture boards that my Sunday school teachers would use, the illustrations in our bedtime Bible story books and these illustrations were so similar to those. In fact, our oldest daughter (11 years old) said she loved the "artwork" in this book!
Children's Favorite Bible Stories sells for just $19.99 and would make a great gift for children, baby shower gift, addition to a church library, etc. Tommy Nelson has graciously offered one of my readers their very own copy of Children's Favorite Bible Stories.
