Today, March 3rd, the History Channel (USA) will begin showing the first of 5 two-hour episodes of the "epic docudrama", The Bible. The Bible Series premieres at 7:00 P.M. CST Sunday nights and will be something you want to make sure you record or something you take time to watch.

We are a family that believes God created the world in a literal 6-day span. I was pleased to read that this series aligns with our beliefs and emphasizes a 6-day creation as well. Throughout the movie, creation is referenced time and time again. Miracles throughout the Bible are creatively and respectfully portrayed and the 10 Plaques are brought to life like never before. Bible miracles are presented as the real miracles they were rather than some naturalistic explanation. While there are a couple of spots that should have been done differently or could have been portrayed better, this series is overall an excellent retelling of the Bible itself.
The Bible is not a G-rated book, and occasionally The Bible reflects this. While never gratuitous, the series does depict scenes of violence (particularly during battles, and two scenes of people having their eyes gouged out). There is no nudity, but there are a few references to sex (nothing more ‘graphic’ than a view of Hagar’s and Bathsheba’s bare backs). Parents may want to exercise discernment in allowing younger viewers to see the violent scenes.

I'm hoping that the series shows the Biblical creation as it would be really cool to see that portrayed in a television series. I'm really looking forward to this series! :)
