Y'all probably already know that I am a huge fan of planners, journals, stationary, etc. I still believe that letters should be handwritten more so than emailed and I like having a calendar/planner that I can easily access and keep track of things in. I love journaling and I keep a prayer/spiritual journal every day. May Designs is a company that offers customizable everything and they are an eco-friendly company too. They offer a ton of cover designs for you to pick from, then you can add custom monogramming and best of all, you get to customize the pages inside your book. You can choose from agendas (monthly, weekly or academic), address book, budget journal, meal planner, exercise/food journal, kids coloring book, kids handwriting book, wedding diary, pregnancy journal, and baby diary. If you prefer blank notebooks, you can choose from lines, graphs, dots or simply blank pages.
May Designs offered me the chance to try out their products and I got to customize my own book. Choosing a cover design was really hard because I liked so many of them. I loved the chevron prints, doodle prints, Blooming designs, Vintage Bird and Moroccan just to name a few. I finally chose the Red Chevron design because I love Alabama football and I like to show team pride in as many ways as possible since we live in south Texas now. I chose to add a custom monogram to my book also and I put my name in a grey rectangle.
I thought picking a cover design was pretty tough because of all the choices I liked but when it came time to pick the pages to go inside my book this one was pretty easy for me. I wanted this book to be an agenda book and after looking at all the different agenda page options, I chose the Academic Agenda. I loved how it has not only the month at a glance page but also each week is broken down with plenty of space to write in too.
May Designs is also an eco-friendly company. All the May Books are bound together using an old-fashioned sewing machine so you don't have to worry about pages ripping out, covers falling off, etc. plus the thread is good for the environment too. Their covers are Green-e Certified which means they are resilient, durable and water-resistant. Come on, you know that last part got you excited...water-resistant! As a Mom with 3 kids and a missionary family, anything water-resistant is great for us.
I also loved the size of this book. All the books come with a standard 80 pages although with your customization your book may include more pages. My book easily fits into my purse and it doesn't take up a lot of space. It isn't bulky and thick and cumbersome and yet it is so durable I don't have to treat it with "kid gloves" when using it or putting it somewhere for travel. The only thing I was a little disappointed in was the thin pages. The pages in this book aren't real thick so depending upon what type of pen you use it sometimes shows through. It would be nice if they could figure out how to make the pages a little more sturdy and not so thin. That minor flaw isn't enough to make me not like May Designs though. I am totally loving my new planner and it is compact enough that I can carry it around with me anywhere I go!
